Excitement Builds for the 3rd Annual Antigonish Jazz Festival, November 7-9, 2024
The Antigonish Tourism Association and the Antigonish Jazzfest Organizing Committee are thrilled to announce the lineup for the 3rd Annual Antigonish Jazz Festival, taking place from November 7th to 9th at various venues across Antigonish.
This year’s festival promises to be an unforgettable celebration of music, with an eclectic mix of local talent and internationally acclaimed artists. The headlining act for Saturday night will be the electrifying jazz fusion band, The Funky Knuckles, known for their dynamic performances that seamlessly blend jazz, funk, and rock. They will take the stage at the St. Francis Xavier Bloomfield Centre on November 9th.
Additional headline performances include the father-daughter duo Kirk and Virginia MacDonald, bringing their rich, soulful sound to the festival, and the ever-energetic The Shuffle Demons, a Toronto-based band renowned for their genre-defying music and high-energy shows.
“The 2024 Antigonish Jazz Festival is set to bring some of the most exciting and accessible jazz music to our community. From local favourites to international stars, this lineup has something for everyone,” says Paul Tynan, Artistic Director of the Festival.
Festival-goers can also look forward to performances by regional artists like Doris Mason and EC3 (East Coast Three), as well as community groups including the Northumberland High School Combo and the APC Big Band. The festival features daily busker performances throughout downtown Antigonish, as well as late Jam sessions at The Townhouse.
“The support of our community partners, including the Antigonish Chamber of Commerce, Coastal Nova Scotia, Antigonish Visitor Information Centre, and the STFX Music Department, is crucial to the success of this festival,” says Paul Curry, President of the Antigonish Tourism Association. “We’re excited to continue building on the momentum of the past two years and look forward to welcoming jazz enthusiasts from near and far.” The festival is generously supported by Heritage Canada and a number of valued sponsors.
